Resident Appreciation Day BBQ Recap: Celebrating Community at Waverley Greens Apartments

This past Saturday, we hosted our highly anticipated annual Resident Appreciation Day BBQ at Waverley Greens Apartments, and it was truly an event to remember. As fall approaches, the season made its presence known early on, with light sprinkles at the start of the BBQ and a brief shower shortly after. However, in true Waverley Greens spirit, several dedicated residents braved the weather and stayed to enjoy an afternoon filled with delicious food, fun, and community bonding.

We were thrilled to offer a diverse menu this year to accommodate everyone's preferences and dietary needs. In addition to the classic burgers and hotdogs, we included gluten-free buns as well as turkey, black bean, and Impossible burgers. No matter your preference, we made sure everyone left with a full and satisfied belly.

A special thank you goes out to Shawn and his colleague Ian from Xfinity/Comcast, who graciously joined us to raffle off two incredible prizes: an Air Fryer Oven and a state-of-the-art Toaster Oven. Shawn, our Waverley Greens Xfinity Representative, was also available to answer any resident questions about their Wi-Fi and cable services, making him a valuable resource throughout the event. We appreciate his ongoing support and generosity in helping to make the day even more enjoyable.

Adding a unique touch to the festivities, we were fortunate to have Doug, an expert on Oregon’s history, who conducts demonstrations at state parks across the region. Doug shared fascinating stories about the fur trappers of the 1800s, focusing on the beaver population along the Willamette River. His demonstration included authentic props such as a beaver trap, a full beaver hide, and even beaver gland oil, providing our residents with a captivating and educational experience.

One of the best parts of the day was seeing our growing community come together. With many new neighbors joining Waverley Greens, this event was a wonderful opportunity for residents to connect, introduce themselves, and strengthen the sense of community that makes our community so special. We also welcomed some of our beloved furry friends, like Pepper from Birnam Oaks and Buffy from Dundee, who always bring extra joy to our gatherings.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, especially those who stayed to chat and enjoy the afternoon despite the unpredictable weather. The sun eventually made an appearance, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our residents and all that makes Waverley Greens such a welcoming and close-knit community.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at next year’s Resident Appreciation BBQ and creating even more memories together! Thank you for making Waverley Greens your home.
